Ron Anderegg Biography

Ron Anderegg, born in Portland, Oregon, began his artistic training at the Portland Art Museum when he was eight years old. After high school, he relocated to Los Angeles to attend the Chouinard Art Institute (now called Cal Arts) where he received a strong classic education in drawing and design. He graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Advertising Design. His contemporaries at Chouinard included Ed Ruscha, Joe Goode, Jerry McMillian, Larry Bell, Don Bachardy and Bob Mackie.

Upon graduation, Anderegg joined Walt Disney Studios (WED) as an assistant art director in the graphic design department. One of his initial projects was working on the original Disneyland, designing collateral materials such as posters, shop signs and restaurant menus. He also worked with the design team that conceptualized projects for the 1964 New York World's Fair.

In 1963, the mandatory draft summoned Anderegg into the U.S. Army. There he served as a designer/illustrator with the Army's Exhibit Unit, doing visual aids and displays for the Pentagon and Defense Intelligence Agency in Washington D.C. One of his display designs for President John Kennedy is now in the JFK Library in Boston, MA.

Following military service, Anderegg returned to Los Angeles and joined RMB Advertising Agency where he worked as an art director. For the next ten years he was in charge of the Max Factor point-of-purchase display account. That was followed by ten more years as a freelance artist/designer, working with not only Max Factor, but several other accounts. His "piece de resistance" for Max Factor was designing their museum in Hollywood.

In 1986, Anderegg abandoned commercial art to seriously follow the "true song of his soul", fine art. He is now directing all of his considerable talent and energy in the pursuit of his artistic dream.
